bravery (v.) doing something in spite of the fact that it completely terrifies you
So I did something brave today. To celebrate my 26th birthday I gave myself a new adventure… I opened an Etsy shop.
Now, let’s backtrack for a minute…
You all know by now that I’m getting married in just a few months. Over the last year and a half I have had a lot, and I mean A LOT, of fun planning and designing and imaging what it will all look like when it finally comes together.
And when I stopped to think about how fun it was for me, I thought about all the other females in the world doing the exact same things I’m doing right now. How were they feeling? Were they having fun like me or were they stressed, overwhelmed, tired, confused, lost?
So, like usual, I thought of a crazy idea… “How great would it be to keep this fun momentum going? I’m going to open an Etsy shop!”
Now, living in a small town like mine, I thought, “okay how the heck am I going to do that?”
Then I remembered how much Etsy helped me pick and choose some additions to my wedding, I thought, that’s it! That, combined with the few design classes I took in college, and the countless graphics I designed in my current and previous jobs have only helped fuel this fire.
Fast forward almost a year…
I did it. I opened an Etsy shop. And here I am ready to tell the world, well maybe only a piece of it, that’d love to help inspire other girls in my shoes through my brand new Etsy shop: Designs by Melissa.
Whether your planning a wedding, hosting a bridal shower, bachelorette party, engagement party or even a birthday party, Designs by Melissa is you invitation haven. This little corner of the world is my new creative center.
Now what I need is for all of you big dreamers, bloggers, readers, wedding planners, gossipers, moms, sisters, cousins and friends… Please share my shop and help my big dream grow a little further. 🙂
